King County Performance Measurement Work Group.

King County has been working for many years on developing a strong performance management system. In 2008, the county took a major step forward in placing into county code a countywide performance management framework that applies to all branches of county government. With the adoption of the Performance and Accountability Ordinance (Ordinance 16202) and the related transparency motion (Motion 12791), the Metropolitan King County Council established for the first time a countywide performance management expectation.

In the fall of 2000 the provincial Department of Municipal Affairs and Housing announced the Municipal Performance Measurement Program, which required all municipalities in Ontario to file financial and performance data with the province. Municipalities are also required to publish the results for the taxpayers of the municipality, and one of the publication options is posting the information to the Internet.
